On Sunday, October 22,
2006, our Director of Fine Arts Ministry, Ruthie Brannen was
honored with a dinner attended by approximately 125 members of ORLC and some of
her many friends. A great afternoon spent remembering
times past and all that Ruthie had accomplished during her
stay here. Many of her friends related not only the
accomplishments but some of the more humorous moments. She
will be missed.
She was born
and raised in Augusta, GA. She received a Bachelors Degree in
Music (Performance - Organ) from Augusta State University.
Studied under Dr. John G. Schaffer. Returned to ASU years
later to complete certification as a Georgia Educator in the
music field. Lived and worked as a choral conductor and
concert organist in Munich, Germany. Originated and conducted
the German-American Choral Society of Munich, Germany.
Returned to Augusta in 1987 and began working for Our Redeemer
as organist/choirmaster. As programs expanded and developed,
the position became Director of Fine Arts Ministries. Programs
at the church encompassed all ages - singing, playing tone
chimes and hand bells, puppetry and drama. She also promoted
solo instrumentalists in our various programs, offered
classical religious choral works for our adult singers on a
regular basis.
Not only
did she work within the church but also outside the church:
She was Choral Director for Augusta Preparatory Day School
(Upper school); Music director for musical, both at APDS and
throughout the community. |
